European Chemical Manufacturer Optimizes Maintenance and Reliability Engineering with SAP ASPM Implementation
Rizing collaborated remotely with a European chemical manufacturer to implement SAP® Asset Strategy and Performance Management (ASPM), supporting Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). SAP ASPM is a cloud solution that enables plant managers and reliability engineers to measure and improve asset performance and optimize maintenance strategies. The project required setup, documentation, training, data transformation, and data migration across three locations.
The manufacturer operates production sites in multiple countries and employs over 1,200 people. It produces PVC, chlor-alkali products, and other derivatives, with an annual turnover exceeding €1.8 billion.
Project Highlights
- 4 months end-to-end implementation
- 60,000+ objects migrated from legacy systems to ASPM
- 3 European plants successfully onboarded
When the manufacturer realized they needed an implementation partner for SAP ASPM, they sought recommendations from industry peers. Several partners recommended Rizing based on our experience in enterprise asset management. After a formal RFP process, a combined project team was formed.
The Challenge
COVID-19 restrictions meant most of the project was executed remotely, making data migration more complex. Despite this, flexibility and collaboration ensured success.
Objectives
The team worked together to achieve key milestones:
- Environment Setup – Development, testing, and production environments configured with necessary application connections.
- Foundational Assessments – Baseline assessments completed to measure future performance, involving data gathering and analysis matrix creation.
- Maintenance Plan Documentation – Existing asset maintenance plans documented and transformed into a format suitable for cloud import.
- Data Migration – Using Rizing accelerators for quality assurance, conversion, mapping, and template creation. Migration accounted for ~50% of the project effort.
- Workshops and Training – Functionality demos, workshops, end-user and administrator training delivered to ensure adoption.
